The POWER FX is JOOLA's answer to the foam-core wave: an EPP foam paddle built around an extended version of their patented Propulsion Core, launched in the 16mm Perseus shape at $179.95. JOOLA's pitch is a longer 'diving board' that loads on contact and springs forward, for power with less effort and more dwell, plus a higher-grit surface for spin.
It's too new for a full set of independent reviews, so we haven't scored it. The first looks published so far agree on its character: this is not the soft, plush foam most 16mm foam paddles sell. Pickleball.com's first look describes a 'stiff and hollow' feel with crisp, hot counters and drives, a grittier face than earlier JOOLA paddles, and noticeable off-center hits. A second early review rates power and pop highly and control as moderate, and warns that dinks can pop up if you get lazy.
On paper that makes it a power paddle for players who want foam's dwell without losing pop, at a price well below JOOLA's $300 Pro V line. We'll add a score once at least two full independent reviews are out.
