Where It Falls Short

No paddle is perfect, and the sources are clear about the trade-offs:

• An older generation than the Pro IV — newer Perseus models pop more
• Rewards refined technique more than it forgives developing players
• Overlaps with the Hyperion line, so the reason to choose it needs to be clear

Who Should Buy This Paddle?

Across the sources, this is a paddle confidently recommended to competitive and tournament-level players who demand specifics. It delivers on its core promises and the build quality backs up the price tag.

The Bottom Line

The Perseus CFS 16mm is the control-forward, value-priced way into Ben Johns' signature line. Reviewers consistently praise its consistent spin and forgiving all-court feel. It's no longer the newest Perseus — the Pro IV is the current flagship — but at $199 it's a top-tier choice for advanced players who prioritize control and a deep sweet spot over the latest pop.
